Dear Friends, Parishioners and Visitors:
Greetings and blessings in the Name of Our Risen Lord, Jesus Christ!
Often, St. Paul’s letters in the New Testament start with his greetings to the “holy ones”,
in whatever community he is addressing. This reflects the truth that we, by virtue of our Christian Catholic
baptismal covenant, are called to be the holy, righteous and blessed people of God, wherever we live, work,
worship or play and in all that we say and do.
As such, I extend my joyous welcome to you as the holy people of the parish of St. Michael Parish Faith Community.
Dedicated on April 27, 1967, in the town of Calhan, Colorado and an established parish church within the
Diocese of Colorado Springs under the Pastoral Leadership of our incumbent bishop (His Excellency James R. Golka),
the St. Michael Parish Church is a wonderfully empowering and vibrant faith community.
When I first arrived in this community as your priest, I found it to be one of many graces, joys and blessings.
There is a sincere awareness of and desire to, serve the Lord in this parish and community,
and I pray all of you find it hospitable, inviting and engaging in your own spiritual journey and faith formation.
One obvious fact about the parish is that it is rural and there are many people to come to know and relate to within
it. We have found the best way to do that is by investing our time, talents and presence in some form of prayer,
activity and/or ministry work within the parish community.
When we do this, it no longer seems small or rural; rather we recognize the actual presence of others
and take our place within that community as we approach and serve Our Lord and our neighbors.
So please take advantage of the various programs, ministries and activities
that we have available to you and actively participate in the family, which is the St. Michael parish faith community.
Pray for your fellow parishioners and always know that you are in my daily prayers.
May the Lord fill us with His grace, mercy and blessings and may our Blessed Mother’s
prayer-filled intercessions keep us always close to her Son.
In closing, please take time to explore and benefit from this website.
May our St. Michael Catholic Church community help to open doors, hearts and souls
to the calling of Almighty God and help to bring about of His Kingdom.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Bob
